In this presentation, Tom Jallo, RCDD, discusses the basics of Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology and PoE testing. Power over Ethernet describes any of several standardized or ad-hoc systems that transmit electrical power together with data over twisted-pair Ethernet cabling. This presentation will go over topics such as what PoE is, device types and operating modes, standardization according to IEEE, implementation of PoE, passive cabling measurements, and active tests. At the end of the presentation, you will learn about the CableMaster PoE tester.
